CNBC-TV18 Marks a decade of business leadership

cnbc_tv18Mumbai : India’s first and No. 1 Business news channel, CNBC-TV18 is commemorating 10 years of broadcast today. To mark 10 years of leadership, it has launched landmark initiatives in the areas of financial & investor education as well as youth engagement.

Talking about these initiatives, Ajay Chacko, Director, TV18 Business Media said, “The last 10 years have been momentous for us both as a brand and a country. The challenge now is to set new benchmarks as we move forward on our journey. As India’s benchmark business brand, we’ve always focused on financial literacy & investor education as a core objective and have executed many pioneering initiatives in this regard. With the growth of the economy, deepening of the financial markets and expansion of the Indian investor base, the comprehensive INFORMED INVESTOR platform is timely & well positioned to educate millions of Indian investors across the board. Moreover, as a nation which has a large youth demographic with a strong entrepreneurial instinct, it becomes critical for us to empower the next wave of leadership talent in the country. We hope that the FUTURE LEADERS program will be the epitome of that objective. In the subsequent years, we’ll use this umbrella for many other initiatives in this regard”.

The INFORMED INVESTOR initiative will focus on further strengthening financial literacy and providing a comprehensive platform for investor education in the country. Launched in partnership with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the INFORMED INVESTOR will be a 360 degree platform with ground breaking multi-format initiatives that will reach out to investors across demographics, empowering them with the knowledge they need to understand, evaluate and make effective financial decisions.

In the last ten years, CNBC-TV18 has had a dedicated focus on educating retail investors, creating a new generation of entrepreneurs and fostering thought leadership in the areas of investments & entrepreneurship. In the past, the CNBC Channels have successfully led pioneering initiatives including the recent & highly acclaimed ones such as “The Blackboard” with the NSE, which reached to high schools across the country, from Hyderabad to Jhunjhunnu, with the best experts advising & educating young students on financial education. Other landmark initiatives included “Pehla Kadam”, “Sainik Investor” & “Money Yatra”, which broadened the investor landscape of the country by focusing on the unique needs of traditional non-investors, armed forces and investors in smaller towns in the country.

The objective of the FUTURE LEADERS program is to develop initiatives which engage and empower management students across the country. From special knowledge building tools & special programming to special activations, the program will serve as a regular endeavor from the channel for India’s B-schools. In its first edition, the program will present upto 1000 state of the art CNBC-TV18 enabled plasma sets to major B-School campuses across the country.

On Dec 7th at 9 PM, in a show of solidarity, Network18 channels including CNBC Awaaz, CNN-IBN, IBN 7, IBN Lokmat, MTV, VH1, NICKELODEON, COLORS & HS18 will execute a special roadblock with a special message from CNBC-TV18 for all viewers.

Apart from these 2 initiatives, To commemorate the channel’s 10 years, CNBC-TV18 has launched a variety of on-air initiatives including a special documentary series with India’s leading business leaders called the “Dream Decade”, 10 year exclusives of its top shows including Storybaord,Young Turks,Tech Toyz,Overdrive and viewer interactivity contests.
